Cooling Fan

My engine cooling fan came on when I first started the truck, was reading of 2k on torque app, ECT was appx 100* with the EOT a little cooler after about 5-10 minutes things went to normal around 600 rpm. It did not happen anymore during the drive, I was seeing about 192* ECT and 198-200 EOT. I let her set for 2 days and took her to town and the fan was at normal RPM's, Is there any problems or is that normal?

I'm not saying it's normal but I remember reading a few posts of this happening and then being completely normal again without the problem ever returning (or maybe being reported again). I wouldn't sweat it.

To be honest. Mine hardly ever comes on unless I'm REALLY working the engine. I'll hear it for a the first two gears. After that. ....nothing

I have heard others say the same thing, and that the cooling system on these 6.0's if properly maintained is a very good set up.

Were you running the A/C at the time? Mine will speed up when I am idling but no where near 2k rpm.

I have only "heard" mine come on once, while towing uphill on the highway. It was loud as heck.

Mine will come on if the engine temp reaches 225 degrees. But only below like 40mph. And then it sounds like a jet engine. But I never worry about an overheat situation. I've towed my truck up a hill with a 28 ft bumper pull camper that weighs 7k. I've seen oil Temps and coolant Temps of 235-245 degrees.
But how do I know if the fan system is working properly. Idk.

The old mechanical fan clutches with the coiled metal spring seemed to have to "warm up". When you first started the engine and drove off they would be loud for about 1/4 mile until something internal let loose and it de-clutched. I think it might be that the fluid inside the clutch gets thick and won't let the clutch slip until it warms up and gets more slippery.

Experienced this mostly with aftermarket fan clutches back in my 5.0 Mustang days. The factory Ford ones didn't seem to do it.

Never experienced this with the 6.0 but it's the same mechanical concept, just the clutch is controlled electronically vs the mechanical spring on the older ones.

When I installed my new non-plow clutch, it did the exact same thing: stayed locked in and ran just ahead of RPM (Fan clutch DC 0%, but acting like 100%) for about two to three minutes. This is normal because you can lock the clutch up installing it by spinning it over by hand.

From what I remember from before the swap, my old plow clutch would sometimes lock in 100% in random circumstances: while idling with the A/C on, idling in traffic, slow speeds in traffic etc, and if I turned the engine off it would restart with the fan engaged for a little bit, almost like the fan kept spinning after the engine stopped and locked the clutch up like how you do when you spin it on during installation.

I wouldn't worry about this one occurrence at all.

Sometimes the fan will "activate" upon starting the engine if A/C was previously used at shut down.

No rhyme or reason, but I experienced the phenomenon on several different 6.0 trucks.
