Help; 1990 F350 4x4 single cab lariat, 7.5L, auto tranny. Lately more and more when starting the truck up cold I have to have my foot pressed slightly on accelerator pedal and keep it revved up for about a minute to run on its own. It used to just automatically start up and run at 1100 rpm for about a minute without using the pedal. No CEL's come up so I am wondering if a sensor is acting up like TPS or Idle air control. Any suggestions on this if someone else has had this happen, I changed cap, rotor, wires, plugs, air filter, fuel filter . Thanks
Sounds like the Idle air control valve to me. Its fairly common and easy to replace. Don't try adjusting the throttle stop screw though. That is preset from the factory and the computer controls the idle anyway.
Thanks, I will check the codes with my reader anyway. Have another issue that came up yesterday on tranny shifting up at higher rpm and torque converter not locking up; guessing that is sensor also.
