C6ME-?

I was getting the numbers off of the block heads and intake manifold on a truck a bought and this is the block number: C6ME-...... nothing after the dash. So does that mean it's a C6ME or was the A left off on the end?

For what it's worth, it also has C4AE 6090 G heads and an S code intake.

The guy I bought it from claimed it was a 352... I'm surprised he didn't claim it was a 390, since all 352s and 360s are on sale day.

I'm going to figure out the stroke with a piece of wire tomorrow and I'll post back with my findings.

Thanks in advance for any help.

The plot thickens... It's a 3.5" stroke judging by the "measure the wire length down the spark plug hole and turn the engine by hand" method.

The block date code is 5F1.

From what I've read that could mean June 1, 1965 or June 1, 1975...I think.

What I know for sure at this point without the heads off is that it's a 352 or 360 due to the stroke.

All of the casting dates and codes line up for it to all be on the same 1966 or 1967 352 engine. At the end of the day though, who knows who put what heads on what block later on and why anyone would mess with putting on the massive and heavy vast iron intake?!

My bet is that it's a 352 due to everything pointing that way. I'll know for sure when I tear it down and measure the bores.

I'm still baffled by the C6ME- casting code on the block. I haven't found anything anywhere about a "C6ME-". I've found plenty on C6ME and C6ME-A.

Correct, that was the first year they used that casting number. They used C6ME and C6ME-A all the way until 76.
