I went back to the overhead console and fished out the switch that I mentioned was floating around. Once I got it pulled through the opening I made sure the wires were separated and then stuck in a new fuse. Bingo! The lights came on and everything appears to be working again. Needless to say I taped each wire before closing everything up.
So, I am going to suppose that the switch is discontinued. I guess I will see what options exist at the parts store for something that will work for turning the dome on and off manually.
Any suggestions?
Thanks again!
The broken switch
Another angle.
The end result.
Are you a surgeon? Those look like surgery clamps, lol.
Awesome, I'm glad the source of the issue is located... Now the fix!
Junk yard and grab another switch assembly... usually the overheads are there in tact. Sometimes they will let you go in and snip snip and take what you want for free. Cut the wires back far enough and solder & heat shrink them together and bam!
I can't tell if the switches come with the dome lamp or not. The dome lamp is still available from Ford. 1L3Z 13776-AAA Retails for about $58. If you still have it apart, see if there is a separate harness that plugs into the dome lamp.

Three wires ran to the switch. Two had blades on the end and the other a small circle terminal that fit over a plastic post. The switch, for lack of s better word, exploded upon being pushed and the black overhead button along with the front and back of the switch separated. Again, all small as the switch itself was smaller than a dime. Will check with local dealer parts dept to confirm that what is still available is what I need. Thanks for pointing that out!
