Towing question

Hey guys educated responses only please!! Looking at upgrading our camper, new one looking around 8500 pounds total. Have 16 screw shirt bed 5.0 with tow package. Think it's rated around 9500. Am I pushing my luck do t tow across country or anything local mostly flat trips

It's my opinion that the tow rating on a pickup is pretty reasonable. Since you are under that amount, you should be fine assuming everything is in good running order, and you take your time loading carefully and setting up the Weight Distributing Hitch.

Youll be fine for weekend towing and a couple weeks a year of long distance towing. Even if it was mountains it's still not going good to hurt it. Depending on what rear gear set you have will make a difference in the ease the truck moves the weight but as far as hurting it aging you're fine

I had a max tow ecoboost and it will hands down be all you need to tow your trailer. Fuel economy will be heavier than a diesel tho

I think you'll be surprised by how well the truck does.

Make sure your camper is actually 8500. Too many people quote a dry weight, then get surprised when the camper is actually a lot heavier. Between tanks, propane cylinders, and whatever the wife/kids manage to stuff inside... it can easily amount to 1-2K.

It's dry at 7500 we don't carry a lot of crap with us so I'm guessing right around the 9 mark and that's high truck pulled it like a train! I was worried a bit however no more!! I do use all the wd bars and I use my stabilizer bar also don't trust the truck system rather be safe than sorry!!
