When I fixed up my 54 F-100 in 1999 I did not want to replace the old dash ***** with new because I liked the fact that my hands could touch the same ***** that my grandfather and grandmother and uncle did. And I am a tight Pennsylvania Dutchman, so I painted them gloss black.
I did the same to my 55 ***** last week. Here are the pics... sorry no before pics:
The wiper **** was painted off the dash as were the ash tray and glove box ****. Next I want to was the dash and see if I can bring it back to life.
Looks good Abe! I would have done the same. My wife's uncle gave her his Dad's, her Grandpas, John Deere tractor. We decided not to paint it because it wouldn't seem like Grandpa's tractor any more.

BTW, My family is from Montgomery County and my name on another forum is Pennsylvania Dutchman.

I am from Lancaster County originally. My mother and her parents, the grandparents I bought the 54 from, spoke PA Dutch. I never learned it.
Good job. I did the same for my cowl vent and two-speed *****, but I would be concerned that the paint would insulate from the spirit of "authentication".
