I don't think Chris gave you a hard time or was being rude. He was just reacting when he discovered you didn't tell us everything. Or, maybe I should say the way you told us what you did implied that the problem cropped up after you made the change - and a change, by the way, that is unsafe by definition since you bypassed the safety.
And, he is right. We cannot troubleshoot things correctly if we don't have all the facts. So, you need to be clear on what you tell us and ensure we have the facts.
Anyway, you've had several of us tell you that you either have a head gasket leak or, worse yet, a cracked head. And, you've been told of four ways to check that out:
Leak-down test:
Strip that indicates products of combustion in the coolant
Cooling system pressure tester
Compression test. (Personally, I don't like them as they don't tell me much.)
