Hello everyone first post here,
Recently bought a 2001 excursion my driver side trunk door is stuck shut I have pulled off the back to take closer look somehow looks rusted closed. I plan on drilling it out, unless someone knows where the release is for this mechanism the cable is messed up so I cannot figure it out. Also before i cut it out can anyone tell me the part number for that piece as I have looked for an entire week and have had no luck.
Thanks
You should check out the trch folder above. Those doors are commonly referred to as barn doors. I (thankfully) have not had any problems with mine but there are others who have. Good luck. I would not drill anything out unless it is a last resort.

Ok i did what the walk through said but the door wont open at all the cable is fine its the mechanism at the bottom of the door thats messed up because I am moving the piece that is supposed to move with my hands but it will not release. I WD-40d the poop out of it but with no luck. So it needs to be drilled out but problem is I cannot find that part number anywhere for that bottom assembly. I hope someone can help me.

Yes thats what im looking for but problem is where is the lock asy for the driver side barn door.
I see the passenger but i dont see the drivers with the cable etc.
Google Autonation Ford White Bear Lake. Give them a call in the parts dept. I got the whole assembly from them, I think it was $60. Drill out the plastic rivets and replace the entire assembly. You will have to rivet the new assembly in as well.
In the meantime you can remove the door panel and pull the cable by hand to open the door.
Unfortunately the cable was not the problem i think the locking mechanism is rusted closed the part that makes the lock unlock is stuck shut somehow. I will give them a call in the morning thanks.
