Hello - I have removed the panel cover; cables are out - door is still stuck! Is there a way to release the latch? It is the driver side back door - 2001 Lariat. Thanks so much

 

My passenger 3rd door was stuck, I removed the panels and there are 2 cables, 1 cable had become un anchored, for the lack of the technical term, I was able to use a Wire Tie and re anchor it.

As far as I know the cable is the only way to open the door, you will probably need to replace them.

 

Thanks for the response - the cables are out! Tried pulling the cables inside the case and that didn't work. Now the door is latched. There must be a wasy to open latch. Can't get the door open. Thanks

 

I thought maybe the Ford genie would get the door open but he never showed up! What can I do please help?

 

I got it - maybe keep this in how to? After removing the door panels and the two cables I found that the end of the cables had deteriorated to nothing. The top latch was holding my door shut. Under the weather stripping you can see the mechanism. The big latch has a spring next to it and there is an L shaped metal piece. Get a double wired clothes hanger and push on the little spring that is next to the latch - you have to push down, and the latch will open.
