Definitely not the Gray plug I have. Good thing you opened it up.
Indeed, I immeadiatly called Crutchfield and talked to a rep and we got them straighten out with my order, so I can't wait until Wednesday!!
Sadly (not really?) the black sound mat just fell off so I took it off, going to look into using dynamat or something better for the sound proofing bit
Well I got a new radio for the truck, while its not a double din with sat nav in it, it does tick at least a couple boxes that I had, USB and no CDs and as an added bonus it has SD card player support up to 32GB SDHC cards, so WINNING! It was a single din unit which I don't mind that as I figure this will hold me over until I can buy the sat nav unit I want which will be quite the Buck$Zooka blast going off that it may melt the barrel anyways...at the moment I am just waiting for the adapters from Crutchfield to come in so I can rip into the speakers and install the ones I bought...
The Brand I went with is called "Dual" and to be honest I never heard of this company until a few days ago when I bought the Dual XR4020 head unit figured what the heck I will take the risk for $43.00 (it was really $42 and some change) if it fails I won't be out $100's just a couple low caliber rounds at most from the Buck$pistol which is a quicker reload anyways...I also purchased what I thought were 2 way speakers, NOPE...they are 4 way speakers so we will see how they will sound, I am pretty certain they will be a huge improvement over the stock 1 way speakers (at least that is what I think they are, 2 way at most but I don't see any built in tweeters in the stockies).
It is also rated for 240 Watts and the speakers (per set) are rated at 160 Watts, so I am not 100% sure if this thing will be strong enough to do what it need to but meh, should still be an improvement...
Keep im mind I am looking at it like 160 +160 = 320 - 240 = 80 so I got 80 Watts that I need to possibly make up some how...or that I will just loose, again not sure 100% about all that bit, but hopefully someone with more audio knowledge will chime in here...
If the truck wasn't in need of the sound system rehab as desperately as it needs it I would be half tempted to get the adapters for the stang and throw the speakers I have in that, instead and see how the Kenwood DPX501BT (higher step up from the Dual HU) would handle them....Im betting it would be audiophiles heavenly paradise....but I suppose the truck could be one too
I can't attest that it is the same company but I have a Dual turntable that I got back in the 70's when I got my highfalutin stereo, it is of decent quality.

do you have a part number, I could probably find out if its Dual Electronics company as the MFG I can say it most likely is
I know its not car audio but how does it sound as far as playing music?

It sounds good and was quality stuff for it's era (as were Sansui, Morantz, Kenwood, Pioneer, Technics, etc.) I'll have to see if I can find a part number I forget the model number.
Well I finally got the speaker adapters and speakers installed so this thread has compleatede its usefulness, more info in my build thread on the install of the speakers Next is the HU from Joying...
Not sure if it has been covered but you can make a speaker box that will sit behind your rear seat, if you have a crew cab, that hold two 12" subs. Add a 1200 watt amp for them and you have nice lower bass for all music. Really nice blend for little cost and effort.
I have the bench style seat in the back, and I have the half doors that open up, so I think I have the extended cab? I was thinking (however a bit pricy) getting the hide a bass that replaces the centere seat in the front and keeps the factory looks of the seats so you never know its there until the bass kicks...

That's something I would do in a nicer version of my truck for now I just have a 10" low profile Rockford fosgate sitting on the floor. She does a fret job!

You can always do what I am doing and make a build thread and rehab your truck
Super cab, you're likely to get admonished for improper nomenclature.
ehh thats why I had the ?? part :P super cab extended cab...would be nice if Ford stadardize on the naming bit....oh well...its my truck and I am going to build her as I want and enjoy her too....
