To update on the outcome of running no exhaust pipe, it's going good so far, seems to have less lag, a minor hiccup in the idle but not serious, now I'm watching my mpg to see the gain. I'll update that status as soon as I know.
I originally ran the DPF-R on my truck with no issues. Then I ran the DPF-R + which is the 70 hp tune and it gave my truck a hiccup and intermittently a lope in my idle. I felt like the 70hp option was making my truck run weird like it was having timing issues. The hiccup in mine got a little worse over time or maybe it just paranoid me more And the lope in my idle was the truck changing fuel maps and getting confused according to gearboxz techs. Needless to say after 10k miles I bought a mini maxx. Fixed everything as far as weird engine noises and the truck runs better than it did when I bought it. Maybe this will give some light on your hiccup situation. I don't really feel like it would progress into anything bad but I just didn't like how my truck ran so I upgraded and I'm pleased with mini maxx.
OK cool!! Thank you for the info on that! Yes my hiccup is noticeable but I agree that it seems odd, I have a high idle that never kicks down even in open loop. I will definitely look into the mini Maxx. Now will I need to restore my programming before I install the mini Maxx program?

Yeah basically you plug in the DPFR and then uninstall the program. It'll walk you through the steps to do so. The mini maxx instructions states the vehicle needs to be at WOT for install so BEFORE BEFORE YOU UNISTALL THE DPFR you need to take the truck out and get it hot. Get home and uninstall the DPFR and plug in the mini maxx and it'll guide you through everything you need to do to install it.
Also on the high idle thing. My truck idled at 1100 with the gearboxz no matter what. Since the mini maxX it idles aroun 650-700. Sounds way better and runs way better. I guess you get what you pay for.
Sounds like I do need to do some work. I really appreciate the warning to get the truck hot before I do anything. I'm sure you just saved my *** a ton of time. I honesty bought the DPF-R plus strictly based on price, so yea I did get what I paid for. Lesson learned.

I bought it because of its price as well. And it definitely got the job done.
As for the mini maxx the instructions say to only have the truck hot for the tuner install and I'm not sure why lol. I just did as it said. As for the deletes, my truck was already deleted via the dpfr so I just had to remove the gearboxz and install the mini max. Took about 15 minutes. Have you already installed the DPFR? If you're still running stock then I would just delete the junk and install the tuner before you turn the key. If you've already deleted then it's as simple as removing the tune and installing the other one.
Did you use a test pipe with bungs or w/o? Which is better? Just bought an 08 w/131K runs great but going to put tuner, dpf/cat, cold air to start. Will do EGR later.
I think the reason why H&S wants the truck hot is to ensure the batteries are fully charged so they'll last the 10-15minutes to download the firmware while the ignition is on and to ensure the glow plugs are not being powered. The last thing any of us need is the batteries to fail half way during downloading. Hooking up a battery charger will avoid any issues on a cold engine.
