Unknown wire help

Hi All,

Took a little time to work on Old Blue recently....well, that's not exactly the whole story. More like, the brake line behind the midship fuel tank sprung a leak requiring the removal of said fuel tank and 40 years of mud and gravel. Found some interesting stuff though. The original plugs for the fuel tank were wedged between the top of the tank and the the box. Came in pretty handy as you can see by the photos.

I also found the original owners pocket knife in the fuel tank, verified by his grandson.

The most interesting thing I found however is this one pin wire. It is part of the factory wire harness / loom. It exits the loom roughly right in front of the midship fuel tank, and I cannot for the life of me figure out what it was supposed to be hooked to. The wire is pale green in color. Pictures aren't the greatest. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the help!

Someone might prove me wrong but I think that is the plug for the 4x4 indenticator light if equipped. What I have seen before is that it hooks up to the transfer case if your truck was equipped with the light.

I believe Mustang is right. That looks like the 4x4 indicator switch connector.

You're right. That's for the 4WD indicator. It was used only on trucks with full time 4WD. It lit up when the transfer case was "locked". The trucks with part time 4WD didn't use the light but the harness still has the plug.

Well that makes sense I guess. It has lockouts and thus would be considered a "part time". Four wheel drive. I knew somebody would know. It was a first for me.

It is a Barlow pocket knife...my neighbor texted a picture of it to the original owners grandson, and he said..."if that's a Barlow, it was grandpas." He also said.."if he dropped it in the fuel tank, he wouldn't have told us." I thought it was a pretty cool story, especially if you knew Clarence.
