Let master cylinder go dry, filled up MC then bleed system but pedal not quit right. Bled system more, after driving stopped getting brake fluid from front calipers, Have Mighty Vac system. Was told may need to get ABS Module bled? How do i do that. Going back out to try to re-bleed systm starting from right rear. Having terrible luck.
If you let the MC bleed dry, there is going to be a ton of air in the system. There is probably a pocket trapped in the ABS controller, and I believe the only way to take care of that is to use AE or similar to command open different valves and whatnot to get the air out. That or take it to a dealer and have them take care of it.
Was it a leak that ran the MC dry or did you just forget to monitor the fluid level during bleeding?
We left a caliper off overnight and it went dry overnight. We then bleed the system and got pedal but not as good as it was before. been bleeding with mighty vac, getting fluid out of front right caliper went to left caliper and getting a lot of air and hardly any brake fluid. May just t have to bight the bullet and get screwed over by dealer!
Well, went back out to bleed system again, this time I put some Teflon tape around the bleeder valve like the instructions say may help(who knew, reading instructions may help). Anyway, it pulled fluid out of calipers, now going to see if I can find a gravel road to engage the ABS system. When I re bled the system start at right rear first, then left rear then, right front, then left front, right or wrong? ANYONE USING A MIGHT VAC PUT TEFLON TAPE ON THE BLEEDER VALVES, IT HELPS A LOT!! This has been a real pain!!
I wonder if this could be my issue as well... My pedal feels a little soft and my stopping power is crap. Maybe I should just go get on some gravel for half an hour and give it hell...
You guys are great!! I knew that you bleed from the farthest point from the MC, but my son found somewhere on the internet that said with ABS you started closest and, you know everything on internet is true!!! Well, after using mighty vac with Teflon tape on the bleeder screw and pulling vacuum starting at farthest point,WORKED GREAT!!!! I drove it to lunch, got up to 55 and stomped on the brakes and they didn't lock up. Wasn't able to find a gravel road yet, but will try 35 to 0 on it when I find on if you guys think necessary. Wife drove home and said brakes felt way better that before. I am very happy!! Thanks and have a blessed day!!
I don't think you'll be able to lock them up on dry and clean pavement, I never could with mine. Unless I hit a large expansion joint or some uneven road sections during braking - then the ABS seems determined to send me flying into whatever it is I'm trying to stop for.
