Power Steering leak

Drove to the store and was getting a whine from the steering. Got home and saw a large spot on the driveway just about where the power steering pump is. Go down to O'Reily to get some fluid so that I could fill it up and see where it was leaking from. Saw this fluid that said it will stop leaks. Being the eternal skeptic I talked to the guy behind the counter, not a kid, and he said that they work. Well I bought a bottle, and got a price on a new pump, knowning full well that I was going to have to be replacing it. Oh by the way, O'Reily's price for a pump was $30 bucks cheaper then AutoZone, $59 vs. $89. So I put some of this stuff in and drive it around. The next day I drove over 450 miles. I have now put a total of 1000 miles on it with no leaks and it is reading full. I would of never believed it. And yes I am keeping an eye on it and I have an extra bottle of fluid with me just in case.... Just thought you might like to know.....

Most power steering leaks occur when you are at the extreme end of the steering, against the stop. The pressure then spikes up to the limit of the pump and whatever is leaking will spray the fluid. It takes two people to find the leak as one person has to hold the steering all the way to the left or the right while you look for where the leak is coming out.

I am out of town right now but will I believe that most of them have the same chemicals in them that causes seals to expand thus closing the leak.

This just leaked out while the truck was sitting in the driveway. Strange.
