My lights don't flash when unlocking, but the dome lights come on. Do your dome lights not come on when you remotely unlock the doors?
If your remote doesn't have good range a new battery will help, as mentioned.
Something I noticed is that the battery springs can be adjusted and cleaned to help make the remote function better. If it has any moisture in it it can cause a weak voltage and not unlock the doors at any kind of range.
I believe they come on, but my windows were tinted by the previous owner and it's hard to see them, especially during daylight. It's a lot easier to see the tail lights or parking lights, depending on which end you're approaching. I was just trying to see if anyone had ever gotten this to work or if it was even possible.
That's one thing I liked much better on my Avalanche. There was a lot of programming available to the driver, like which doors unlock when you put it in park (just driver or all of them), the flashing of lights on lock/unlock and little things like ability to program the mirrors to tilt down when parking. I don't really need the latter on the Excursion with the towing mirrors, but it's nice to have options like that available to the driver, even if you don't use them all.
I bet some electrical guru in your area (Auto stereo shop? Auto electrician?) could find a wire that gets energized briefly when the alarm disarms, tap into that wire, and run that signal to the wiring connected to the taillights and parking lights, making them flash.
But then again, I suck at anything electrical so maybe that can't be done?

Thanks, Stewart. If it's not an easy "change the programming" fix, I'll probably just live with it the way it is. I don't really want to rewire anything just to get the lights to flash on unlock. To me, it's just a "nice to have" feature.
No programming magic to do that. But, you could tap an led into the interior dome light circuit and place it somewhere visible to you from the exterior?
I too wondered about this feature. I came from an Escalade to the Excursion. The lights flash on unlock helps me see my car for one thing and also tells me that the unlock was received prior to walking up to the vehicle. Maybe the wires that once went to the running boards can be located and then you can throw some LED strips on the the vehicle to light up. I myself took off the running boards and added Ramage Bars and I want to illuminate my step bars with LED lights like my running boards use to do.

I have the Ford nerf bars installed by the previous owner. There are some holes that I can see where I think the mounts from the original running boards were installed. If the running boards that were on mine (XLT) were illuminated, I might be able to tap into the harness under there and install some LEDs using the holes that are already there to both illuminate the nerf bars at night and use as a flash when unlock light.
LOL, my wife always says, "how can you miss it" in the parking lots.
lol!! Just one of those lazy things that technology provides... Just get use to seeing the lights illuminate from a distance and so you grow to depend on it after a while...
