Bed Liner........Removal?

Not your normal question of "what do I go with" but looking to remove it from a bed.

I do not know who's it is as I bought the truck with it on there all ready.
I did do a Google search and looks like heat is the way to go but wanted to see what people on here have found works.

I may not even give it a try as I am in a "thinking stage" of what I can use the bed for on my project till I can get the flare side together.
Thanks,
Dave ----

Man, sounds like a lot of work to me especially if it was put on professionally.
And if it's professional, despite not being a fan of bed liners, I would leave it.

I'd read somewhere that one guy burnt his off. Not sure how that turned out though (can't imagine well).

So not much help there but I can help with this one: "in a "thinking stage" of what I can use the bed for on my project".
I'd say your options are pretty much limited to using it as a bed

I would not need to remove all of the liner just around the floor outer edges.

The thinking stage is to use the floor of the LB for the SB FS to replace the wood. Bolt the walls to the metal ribbed floor.
I have been known to do some crazy things!

I follow now
I just found some other posts about using flapper discs.
Or if you are just needing to take a strip off, maybe a razor blade to cut the strip and then a heat gun like you mentioned. Might get lucky and it will peel up.

I think any type of sanding/grinding is out as it will just plug up the disc.
I did see someone using the razor blade and pulling up the liner in strips.

Just wonder if anyone has done this and what they used good or bad.

It would be time consuming but....maybe a heat gun and a 3" putty knife ?
I would have to believe that the manufacturers (Line-X, Rhino, etc.) could advise on a solvent that would deal with residue also. Maybe their websites ?

What I found on line the manuf. did not offer much in the way to remove it other than it taks a LOT of time.

Only good thing is I don't need to strip the whole bed just the edges by the walls for what I am thinking of doing.

Then maybe the heat gun with a 2" putty knife (or whatever width is required) might serve your purpose.
