Does anybody know how to disconnect the door chime? I like to keep my drivers door open while I listen to the radio and it would be nice to not have the annoying chime ring.
I cut a wire coming from the ignition in the steering column. Black w/ pink trace? I'm trying to confirm, but side effect is the door automatically unlocks itself everytime I close the driver's door, and I have to lock it with the fob.
Yes you lose the headlight reminder so one must remember without the chime reminder. I have never heard of the chime for warning lights. I know on my friends new 6.7 no audible alarm went off when all his dash warnings lights were flashing leaving his truck disabled on the side of Hwy20.

That would indicate another problem with his truck. Every visual alarm is accompanied by an audio alarm. Everything from "low fuel" to "parking brake engaged".
I posted pictures on how I disabled the "key in ignition, door open" chime in a new thread. I found various threads but none with good pictures showing how it is done. This was for my 2005 F250.

So what I did was pull out the gem module / fuse box on my 2001 f350. I opened up the gem module and de -soldered the diode chime leaving an open I reinstalled the gem module and fuse box. and I never heard a chime again . this is what it looked like it was by the corner of the board of the gem module. I also siliconed the gem module case to prevent an more moisture.
