that hunk of crap does no justice to one of the greatest cars of all time. it doesnt even have fins or round headlights and most important....the grill! thats what caught youre eye on the original. in that pic someone posted...that car looks like some new japanese sports car!!!
the new T-Bird carrys on the legacy of that great car! that new bel-aire could very well destroy the legacy of the '57

that's what i thought when i saw the new one. the old ones caught my attention with the fins, the grill and the lights. they had a very nice design that looked slick and sporty, but then practical while drawing the attention of the buying public. the new one looks to curvy, futuristic and like every other car out there. the 57 bel-air stodd out, the new one blends right in.
i love the 57 2 door hard top. i love to get my hands on one and rebuild it. id put a 351C in it, instead of the 350.
Chevy needs to quit on the project. They can never do a car justice. Remember the Nova. It was kind of cool. They got rid of it. Then they brought it "back". Remember that little Suzuki looking thing with the 4 cylinder and front wheel drive? What was that about?
Here's a better one. The Impala. Back in the '60s and '70s it was a cool cat car for Chevy. Got rid of it. Brought it back. Looked kind of cool in an all black paint scheme. At least you could do something with it. They got rid of it. Then they brought it back a couple of years later in a smaller, more hideous, no power, front wheel driving, piece of plastic.
Sure Ford has severly overpriced the new T-Bird, a smaller powerhouse, and can't run with the vette, but it's still a cool car. Mercury is doing the same thing with the Marauder. Keep the history. The Bel Air was one of the most famous and best ideas in the history of Chevrolet and classic cars for that matter, but it's gone. Let it go with the dignity it has.
