Have any of you heard about the new Mercury Marauder coming out in summer of 2002? Based on the Gran Marquis platform, all monochrome black with 300 horses. I am considering getting one to replace my Camaro.
Late or not, it's a good looking car and the numbers are quite impressive. Besides, it's good to see a new car that isn't a miniature version of a real car. Chevy did quite a job with the Impala in 95/6- but look what it has become now! I miss cars that make you feel like you're sitting on your sofa at home when you're behind the wheel. Like the late 70's Cougar/LTD! Now THAT was a car!
Too bad the price tag will probably be out of my range.

Tru Tru, I saw the Maruader at the Chicago auto show and it looker pretty nice, I'm always a sucker for cars where everything is bodycolor, and yea I miss the plush fullsizes from the days of yesteryear, its sad what passes for a fullsize family car thses days, Remember when most family cars where powered by big blocks ? Or when people, whole families took great pride in their automobiles and showed them off at the drrive in ? Were a nation in continuous motion and nobody gives a darn or takes pride in their cars unless they dont start, then they care for sure, Automobiles the most tanken for granted invention to date ! What a shame
All I want is a mustang with a naturally aspirated 5.4L. That's all I want from ford...
5.4,5.4,5.4,...
1989 F-150 : 5.0, shorty headers, Flowmaster cat-back, K&N filtercharger intake, March pulleys, MSD-6T, soon to be Mass-Air...doesn't know she's not a Mustang
Yeah, otto, but I want a radio, AC, a passenger seat or two, oh yeah, insulation would be nice...
Guess I'll just hold out for a Saleen.

I seen them and I love em'! There's just something about a full size REAR DRIVE 4 door w/ big wheels and big power that's just way cool. This is definately somthing I could see myself driving. The old Impalla SS's were cool too but GM defiled them w/ the new design. I personally hate GM's family cars. There all a bunch of face-in-the-crowd cars w/ the same stupid 3800V-6 FWD platform. Ford is the only one still making RWD cars and I applaud them for that. Heck even the Corvette isn't much of a true RWD. With that stupid transaxle in the trunk it's more of a FWD facing the wrong way.
Im guessing that this new 300 horse motor will replace the pi driveline in the near future also. I've seen pictures of the car and it looks pretty sleek! Its a shame that the other manufacturers turned their full sized sedans into FWD junk. The 2000 impala is an insult to its 94-96 predecessor. I hate to see ANY RWD car be discontinued but that seems to be the trend. Well, Ford definitely has the market on full sized sedans and it looks as though they'll keep it for a while. It would be fun to test drive one even though its waay out of my price range.

Profanity Removeddoes that 2nd to last sentence mean???? I do like Fords, but anyone that knocks a Corvette is just...........well, nevermind. The Corvette is superior to ANYTHING Ford makes concerning performance. It's quite embarassing. Even the R at $55,000 may or may not be higher performance than a Z06 but I'll take A/C CD and all the options AND pocket the $15,000(that's if you could even buy an R at sticker!)
The Marauder is supposed to have the Cobra 4.6 DOHC. I'm excited but worried Ford will fugg something up in the translation.
The new corvette does'nt have a true live axle or an independant version thereof in the back. What it has is a beefed up Northstar FWD transaxle mounted in the rear. GM says this is to help produce better weight distribution but I know it's just another way for them to cut costs by using stuff they already have. Kinda makes me wonder how many more coners GM has cut in the name of cost savings. The Viper has a true independant live axle in the rear and it has a rear weight bias so don't tell me that transaxle nonsense is to better the weight didtribution. I defentely am not a fan of the new vette. My dad has a 73 Vette w/ a 454 and a close ratio 4 speed and that car is cool so it's not like I hate all vettes. I'm just not impressed w/ the new ones at all.
