D60 SAS & RSK

OK guys, I am finally doing the D60 swap into Charlee. I am trying to get a list together and want to make sure I get everything from the donor before I leave... I'm getting an absolute STEAL on this axle and I don't want the guy to start thinking about it and question my second trip up there.

So far I have:

-Springs (I'm probably swapping SD U codes in with my RSK but I want to have the option)
-Steering Linkage
-Pitman Arm (Probably going to have to fab a custom drop arm but I'll cross that bridge later)
-Track Bar Mount
-Track Bar
-U bolt brackets

I'm currently trying to decide what combination of springs and RSK I should use to get about 4-6" of total lift. I want to be able to run 35" tires, since I think 37" military tires would be a little tall for my 3.55s. Comments and suggestions are welcome in that area.

As far as the RSK is concerned, I was looking at the PMF kit and will be going with them unless someone has a horror story about their kit or customer service. SKY has one too, I just found it. Worth the extra $100?? I also saw a kit from Offroad Unlimited but i didn't see a SD RSK for the OBS, just OBS springs on an OBS. SKY has one too, I just found it. What is the difference??

All in all, I want the truck to look proportional on 35" tires, and still be streetable and not outrageous. Fuel mileage is going to go down probably but that's to be expected. I won't be rock crawling the truck or really mudding it, but trails aren't out of the equation. The basic motivating force behind this swap is to get the improved ride from the SD springs and RSK, and a little lift thrown in because why not.

**Disclaimer: I don't know the year of the truck we're pulling it out of. I'll post it this weekend after we snag the axle. It is for sure a Ford axle, and 4.10 gears so a gear swap will be in the works.**

You will need the front drive shaft that has the double joint at the t-case, and the front t-case yoke for that drive shaft. If your truck has the original t-case in it, then it is a 4407. If the truck you are pulling the axle from is a '95 or older, then it is gonna have a 1356 t-case, and the yoke won't fit your 4407 because the splines are different. So you will have to get a yoke for the 4407, and I have only found one place to get them other than a junk yard, and that is here.......

I have the sky with stock springs. I can't complain after 4 years. It helped ride quality and got my ride height where it needed to be. With that said I am planning a pmf with sd springs in the future to get my ride height back down some.
Either way have some fun with it!

Well, my spring packs are sagging and starting to separate.... And when I replace stuff, I usually go way too far (example: broken FPR=complete E fuel kit)

So do the SD springs actually give a better ride??

I just ordered the PMF 2.25" last week. I've read nothing but great things about it. I also ordered u codes. They're supposed to be the best ride quality. However, they add no addition lift so that might be a concern for you. I only went this route as my front springs were shot as well and I wanted better ride quality. I actually wanted no lift, but there are no kits that I found that offer 0 lift.

PMF also sold me an adjustable track bar. I was told this is the way to go. Cheap enough and I hate having to wait on parts later.

Hey bill glad you brought this up. I never had the vibration you guys talk about with a 250 shaft until I ran with the hubs locked in and t case in 2 wheel drive. And figured it is time to do the swap. So will this yoke fit on a 1356 and then I can use a f350 drive shaft? Or is it only for the 4407?

The only reason I am leaning towards the V code is the guy at ATS springs (He's a salesman so take it for what it is worth) said that they were best suited to the weight of the diesel and that the ride quality would be slightly less but the longevity of the spring would increase... I'm not sure if it is worth the extra $120 for the pair though.

I almost made a boo boo... I just realized my rear springs will have to be OBS springs!! NOT Super Duty...

This is why I organize and re-read my shopping lists 15 times before I buy anything
