1990 transmission

So I have a 1990 F150 with a completely shot E4OD in it. I bought an AOD by mistake and I don't want to be out of the money so I want to use it. What do I need to do to make that work?

You'll need a flex-plate, drive shaft(s), a shiftier cable, maybe a different transmission mount and you might need to move the transmission cross-member forward.

And a different computer if you want to keep the Check Engine Light off.

IIRC there's ways to make it work. It's been awhile since I've ead up on the manual swap threads. The truck will run just fine without the E4OD, you may need to jumper two pins somewhere to get the light to go out.

You will also need the AOD throttle-valve cable and the associated hardware to connect it to the throttle body.

The AOD TV cable is unobtainium...

May find it for $100 on eBay or $50 @ the junkyard.

It's no longer manufactured by Ford and never been duplicated by aftermarket.
Lokar makes type of TV cable, but you have to make the cut and adjustment.

Good thing I picked one of the cables and the bracket up at the junkyard a couple months ago. Never did make it back to get the AOD.

Seems like a lot of trouble to go through. There isn't a way to unload the wrong trans and procure the right one?

way too much trouble to downgrade.it might be worth the trouble if you had an aod and wanted to go e4 but not the other way around.
