Dad needs help...

Hello Rob and Vaughn, Here we have a 1949 f1 with a 6cyl 223H motor. we just got the truck in August 2015, since that time replaced front springs, Wheel bearings, king pins brake backing plate bolts were never found good replacement so we made our own.
Short video for those interested. Vaughn, has autism and he really loves this truck I've kept his interest thru out the hole project as we "Both" learn but loosing ground on hard for me to find items missed three events wanted to attend with him. I'm reaching out for guidance from the "been there solved or found that gang" . Having a 6 cylinder leaves us out on a limb for motor I want to get this on the road so he can feel the truck and he's work in motion. Spring is here and I'm worried on finding information or leads on needed items... Don't want it parked for hard to find and dead end leads from MAC, LMC and others love those company's. In just do not have the 8 cylinder motor.

Looking for correct 1949 water pump using housing 8505 for the 6 cylinder,223 H motor. A lot of folks offered help but late model R or E will not work, intake/exhaust manifold gasket for this motor. I'll keep my request short Thanks for reading Rob

Yes I believe it to be the 223 if I've followed the shop manual correct.

The flathead six is a 226. In '52 they changed to the OHV 223.

I know of no replacements for the 226 water pump. But you might be able to find a place to rebuild it. Someone with more knowledge than me will hopefully respond.

Yes, I figured you knew it was a 226 because you referred to it as an H.

And I forgot my manners. Good thing my Mama didn't see this.

Welcome to FTE!

Thanks So much guys I was getting a little frustrated! My boy was looking at the neighbors pink 12v Barbie jeep going around the corner over and over... I was caving to pressure I was putting on myself. Where all I need was a kick in the pants down the right road.

They may use the same house that Rock Auto hired out to - it was in Philly, as I recall. The peek-a-boo game of finding these units is routinely frustrating. Too many houses pretend to have them on the shelf only to 'discover' that they actually don't have, won't have, and can't get. Good to see that there is a solution.

None-the-less, this little exercise should prompt me to get the backup water pump rebuilt sooner than later.

The other 226 part that really isn't available is the thermostat housing. If you have a good one, treat it well as they are prone to cracking at the bolt hole if the gasket isn't flat.

I have an 8505 pump that would make a good rebuilding core if you need one.

You can have it rebuilt here:
Arthur Gould Rebuilders
5R Main St
Kings Park NY 11754

Last year's price was $90 plus return shipping.

Hope this helps.
