1999 F53 spark plug question
I have a 1999 RV with an F53 chassis ... V10 engine.
I don't have a manual for this chassis and can't seem to find any listings ... only listings for super duty trucks (may or may not have the same gap and torque spec.).
It looks like the MotorCraft part number is SP-479
1) What should the gap be?
2) What is the tightening torque?
Thanks .... Mike

Gap # is off the under hood sticker on my 1999 F250 SD. It also says to use 5W-30 oil in case you were wondering.
Torque figure is based on my experience and reading a whole lot of what other users on this and other forums have to say about it. The original factory torque spec (14) was too low and the recommended spark plug service interval @ 100,000 miles left the plugs in too long so there was a tendency for the spark plugs to loosen over time and spontaneously eject which often resulted in damage to the threads in the head. Installing the plugs with more torque resolves that issue.
