We have had issues with the truck starting for some time. We don't use it that much but less and less due to its starting problems. You need to crank the **** out of it to get it to start. We were doing it so much, that I needed to replace the starter and starter relay. Both burned out. I think it is a fuel supply issue, as if you give it a shot of either it fires up much quicker. Once started it runs great. I think it is not holding fuel pressure when it gets shut down and has to crank over to be primed every time.
Search this forum for air intrusion, or just look at one of the many, many "hard to start" threads here...
But to answer your question, yes, it's probably losing prime.
After it sits a while, remove the fuel filter and see if its full to the top. If not you have an air leak. Look for damp areas around the injector return lines, at the fuel heater etc.
How about the glow pugs? Does the wts light come on for 10 or so seconds? Are you getting white smokenfrom the tailpipe while cranking?
Yes and until you fix the air intrusion issue prime the fuel ..
