Hello, I am trying to run a few wires through the fire wall of my 16 F350. I've tried to push them through the grommet that has a large bundle of wires, but it doesn't want to go. Are there any other spots to run them through? Thanks
Mark, I had good luck using a thin steel insulation support that fits between wall studs to push a new hole in the grommet, then tape the wire I was passing through, to the steel and pull it through the engine compartment side.
There are wires included in that bundle designed as passthroughs. They end up behind the fuse box and under the steering column.
If you don't want to use those, then you can use the grommet shown in the upper left of the photo linked below. The grommet will pop right out and you can drill through the grommet and feed your wires through.
Maybe you're right, but I'm not sure the pass through wires are linked to the upfitter switches. They're hard to find unless you know where to look for them. Not to be confused with the pig tails that ford installs with the upfitter switches. Mine were taped and tucked away out of sight in the engine bay. I had to feel for them and then untape them to pull any slack up.
I added the switches after I bought the truck, so no pass through wires that I could find. I'll look into pulling that grommet.
The upfitter option has nothing to do with the pass through wires. All the Sd's have them. They will be wrapped to the harness behind the fuse box near the left hood hinge. On the inside they will be bundled with all the customer access wires. There is a tag that labels all the wire colors except 5. Those not labeled are the pass through wires. Find same color on outside and you're through.
I took the inner fenderwell out of my truck and made the connections from the bottom. A little more room to work that way IMO.

To the right of the grommet on the trans tunnel there is a large hole with a door held on by 4 screws (in my 13' 250 anyway). I used that to feed my CB cable through.
