Since I did not disassemble it I do not quite understand all I know about it!. In the LMC catalog they is a piece that is called an engine splash pan that looks very similar. If that is it how and where does this bolt up.
It attaches with 5 - 1/2 " head sheet metal screws under the front of the engine to the frame .Once you start looking you will see the attaching holes . V8 & 6 cyl. are different
Thanks, so I assume it kept sticks and stuff away from the front pulley, I'll crawl under there tomorrow. I think I will coat it with truck bed liner coating before assy.
Yes, always. In addition, having the old paper copies of the Chassis Catalogs allow us, in this and other instances, to find the listing for it. The first picture is Pan, Engine Dust 2C 6775-A. Fitted 1952 only on all models F-1/6, 239 or 215. The second picture is either 7RC 6775-A (48-51 fitted to all F-1/6), or 7RC 6775-B that is listed for all through 52 if fitted with either of two crankcase ventilators. There were also F-7/8 versions, 7EQ 6775 for 48-51 and 2Q 6775-A for 1952.
None of this information exists in the 1964 reprint catalogs, or I assume on the CD version derived from it. Ford obsoleted these pans and erased mention of them from later versions of the parts catalogs.
It's not uncommon to see guys trying to use the 48-51 pan under a 1952. It's real easy to see it's wrong because the early pan doesn't clear the rivets for the 52 engine mount diagonals. The 52 version is a deeper pan and has the correctly spaced rivet cutouts.
I first learned of all this talking with Chuck, of course, and learned from him that M-H averted the front differential hitting the pan by torching out a notch at the draft tube hole. Factory original. Stu
That is good solid info. Our truck is a 52 so we have got a match! Since I have not been around these old trucks it just did not register where this would fit or why it would be needed. Once again this site has come through for us.
