Look at the top of the firewall on the passenger side, close to the hood bracket. There is a wire like you mention that is there. I will look for a pic.

What did you use? Did you have to drop the oil pan all the way? I have a small leak and my book said you have to pull the engine to get the pan off. I am assuming that is not correct. Just wondering if you can get it all the way out without jacking the engine up or pulling it.

Unfortunately your book is correct. You either have to pull the engine, or if you're brave, creative, and a really good welder, remove the structural cross member from the frame and drop the pan that way. You just have to make sure the cross member gets put back correctly.
Edit: There was a thread a while back where someone is selling a 2 piece oil pan that can be installed without doing any of that. You'll have to cut the old pan out and then you could try the 2 piece pan. I don't know if anyone has tried this yet.

Wish i could give you better news but you have to atleast raise it, i pulled mine just to straighten out the oil pan and clean up lots of other stuff. The way it is designed you will have to raise it alot which will result in unbolting the turbo. But you can drop the pan about an inch or two and if you can clean it well enough you can seal it that way but the sealer you have to get from the ford house its a type of sylicone and it requires a sylicone gun and its about $20 for the tube.
