For those of you with 2012-2013 model year trucks having issues with SYNC, Bluetooth and phone pairing/connectivity there is an update for the Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM). This should correct your issues. I have corrected two trucks having these problems and to the best of my knowledge it has never created any issues. But please understand, the update is to correct the software. If you are experiencing problems it would be in your best interest to have a dealer technician check the system for codes other than DTC U3000:04 in the APIM that would indicate other system faults that are affecting your SYNC functionality that a software update is not going to correct. My opinion on software updates is that no matter what model year vehicle you have, it is best to be up to date regardless but if everything is working perfectly for you and you are happy happy with it then leaving it alone is fine too. There are a couple of service bulletins addressing SYNC concerns with explicit instructions that also refer the technician to the software update instructions in the workshop manual using IDS. If your dealer is confused, ask them to run the appropriate symptom codes on OASIS and go from there.
