I am going to install a straight 6 in my 63 F100. It originally had a straight 6 but the previous owner had an 8 in it. Can someone, who may have an empty engine compartment, post a picture for me? I have not picked up my 6 cyl yet but it looks like there possibly have been some motor mounts removed to fit an 8 cyl. Anyone see what I;m getting at? I need to see how to mount the 6 in. Note, it came to me with no motor at all.
No pictures handy. If the frame is unmodified, you will have a crossmember just below the firewall and another just below the radiator. Those are where both the factory V8 or I6 mount.
If you're looking for a crossmember just under the engine, with mounts to attach to the side of the engine like newer trucks, you won't find it because it never existed.
If you have a 1963 chassis get a 223 as the newer 240 is different:anything that attaches to the engine is in a different place, usually on the opposite side of the engine. fuel line, throttle linkage, starter wires etc.
