Folks,
What sort of engine mount configuration was used on the 65-66 4x4's that came with the 240/300? Did it use the modern side mounts like the 2x4's or did it have the old style bellhousing ear mounts and a pair of ears at the front of the engine?
The reason I'm asking is I'm looking into swapping a 300 into a pre-65. I know that you can buy side mount crossmember kits, but am curious if there would be another way to do this with stock parts. The main piece to find would be a small block bellhousing that has provisions for the mounts (if there is such a thing).
Thanks,
Brett
On the 65 f-100 4x4 and 65-66 f-250 4x4 the bellhousing mounts were used in the rear and a combination upper and lower support was used in the front on the 240 and 300.On the 66 f-100 the more modern perch was used. Any more questions reply back. good luck
ijb,
How easy to find are either of these parts; sb bellhousing with mount provisions, and the front engine mount with bracket? After looking at my 300, I think I could fab the front bracket if I had some idea of what it was supposed to look like.
Thanks,
Brett
If you have access to a fax machine I can send you a picture with all part numbers. The front mount you can probably find NOS but the bellhousing with the ears you will have to go to a salvage yard and find a trans or motor with it. I can most likely find the original ford part number if you needed it.
to brian , some of these mounts can be found at the places you suggest but you have to be VERY careful because many of them look similar but do have slight differences. The best thing to do is to find the correct part number for your application.
