Hey guys I have searched the forum and still can't find what kind of engine I have so I can get some parts to rebuild. I thought it was a 1975 302 but when I ordered the crankshaft bearings the front main bearing is not wide enough nor is the little lip (tit) on the side like all the others it is in the middle of the bearing. The following below is all of the numbers I can find on the block.
MS590P 12-590P
4L20 E8AB C3B
and on the engine block top covered by the intake these numbers are stamped
F or EKA51393
Do any of these numbers mean anything and if they do can you tell me what is the cubic inch and what make it is.

Thanks in advance for the information,
Can you post some pictures of what you've got?
What are the #'s on the passenger side of the block down by the starter area?
Also do you have the intake manifold off it? If you do, what does it say in the lifter valley? And does it have a roller cam or flat tappet?
Fordman75,
the lifters are hydraulic and the cam is a flat one and not a roller one. As far as the intake manifold it is an Edelbrook Performer with the number of 289 on it at the top but I don't know if that is an after market intake. I think it is. The number down by the starter on the passenger side is 4L20. On the flat part of the top of the engine where the lifters go it says RT22. I think the engine is a 302 and 78Puller says it is a 1988 motor because of the E8AB but I am not sure or not.
Thanks in advance for any other information,
Larry

If your intake is a Performer 289 then that means your engine is either a 221, 255, 260, 289 or 302. The 351W would have a different intake.
The "4L20" is the date code not the casting #. The date code means the block was cast on November 20th in either 1964, 1974 or 1984.
But that's not the # I need. There should be a larger # around the "4L20". It should be on the passenger side down by the oil pan rail towards the back of the block. It should be something like C8AE-6015-A or D2AE-6015-A, E4AE-6015-A or something similar. If the block is dirty you may need to scrape or wire brush the area to read the casting #'s.
Here's a picture of what it should look like.
It would really help if you could post a picture of that area of the block.

Thanks in advance for the information,
My research shows that you have a 1988 302 for a full size Ford
