Anyone using a shackle lift to level the front end of an F-350? Did some Google searches and can't find anyone saying there is any cons to it. I don't want to affect my ride or handling.
I have been running a set of Sanderson extended shackles on the front of mine for quite a while! Put them on when my stock springs with an add a leaf started settling causing my 35's to rub a little. I tow a lot with my truck and don't have one complaint about the shackles!
I have a mini leaf pack it keeps your same suspension rate just goes under your current leafs it is basically just platforms they range from 2 to 3 there may even be others.
I installed a 2.8 inch in my nose. Had to buy a new track (adj) bar to get it right. (they said I didn't need one, beg to differ)
After the install, my steering wheel was a 1/4 out and the nose was a few degrees higher than the tail. I'm going to stip out one plate from the added leaf pack before having it aligned. Steering geometry over heavy bumps does swing the steering wheel a little. Not uncomfortably alarming, but enough not to let the wife or kids drive the otherwise well tamed beast.
The kit was 59.99 free shipping off ebay and was very nice. The Track arm was 124.00 but I'm disappointed in it as the thing is cranked as tight as I can get it and I have to pull it off and shave an inch out of the stock threads to give me enough room to adjust it correctly.
Before buying the leaf packs, the suspension dude told me anything higher than 2 inches, you lose a 1/4 inch of track arm for every inch lifted, otherwise 2 and under you can remain stock.
E99 srw ex cab short, 2 inches would put it dead straight level with 250,000 miles. JS
I ran the Sanderson welding shackles for probably 5-6 years until last fall. They were beginning to fail, stress cracks in the welds, and I ALWAYS was fighting an issue where the truck was crabbing down ther road. When I got a new leveling kit with springs this fall from Rough Country, they came with a longer control arm. Guess what??? No more crabbing...go figure.
My wife has had the 4.5" lift drop shackles up front for years. That along with an adjustable track arm bracket and drop pitman arm and the truck rides like a dream. No issues at all other than needing the initial alignment after install.
