I'm looked through my pictures of when I did my inner axle seals last year. I didn't see anything, but I think I know what you're talking about. Like twitch said I wouldn't drive it unless it is a real emergency. I'm thinking that it only seals against the vacuum for the hubs.
U should say, that's how many miles I've put on it since I bought it in April last year. I have no idea how many miles it went without that thrust washer.
Damn shame a $1.40 part is keeping me from finishing this job. AutoZone, Napa, Advance Auto, O'Reilly - none carry it. Fordparts online doesn't list it...
If you are not in the rebuilding mode yet on it, why not drive it? If you have torn it down and replaced everything else...I would hitch hike
Problem was it was all torn apart. And it was all back together that weekend, sans the thrust washer which I had to order - nobody near me had it, as I feared. I now have one, and will be putting it back where it belongs this week, .
Of course replacing it should be high on the agenda.
Oh it definitely IS high on the agenda. I'm taking the girlfriend for a weekend trip to Daytona this weekend. I don't want to make a long trip without it being there. Of course, I did drive 20,000 miles without it prior...
At any rate, we're going up to Maine next month, which is why I'm going thru and checking everything trying to make sure the Ex is a completely road worthy land yacht before that trip...
