As you can tell from my user name I am new to all of this. I bought a '95 F250 7.3L PSD Automatic from the KS state surplus auction. It has been a good truck, but about all I have done to it is oil and filter changes, air filter, and check fluid levels.
The check engine light came on about a week ago, so I started trying to figure out what is happening. I have read through the posts on code scanners and I am thoroughly confused.
Searching on line I am seeing some scanners like the Innova 3120 that says it can read Ford codes from 83-95 as well as the OBDll codes. Has anyone had any experience with this scanner? Will it work with my truck?
A couple of days after the CEL came on, it started shifting really hard. So I have not driven it since.
Any help or suggestions would really be appreciated. - Al

PS: I had trouble starting it in the winter and replaced the glow plug relay. Sometimes now it will blow white smoke if it is cold out (45 degrees) if it doesn't start and I didn't plug in the heater. I always wait until the Wait to Start light goes out and if it hasn't been started that day I usually wait another minute or so. No white smoke if it starts. So I am thinking I may have a glow plug or 2 still not working.
