I love my TS. It really works great and has been there 8 years with no issues.
To be honest, my truck just lumbered around and felt really heavy. After I installed the chip after some heavy reading and pondering, It woke that sleeping giant right up.
You won't appreciate your truck more with any other upgrade than this.
I went from a 6.5 chevy dual with a stick (snappy) to my F250 and utterly wanted to trade it back until I chipped it. Now, no looking back.
I bought a Hydra chip with Gear Head tunes because I was starting fresh and GH had a good reputation. Although, if I had been gifted a TS chip, I would certainly use it and then if it turned out I didn't like it, explore other options.
Should you get rid of it, I would not without at least trying it.
That is what my son said, just try it and see if you like it. I just do not want any bad side effects come up. I have taken very good care of this truck since new.

Just don't let the kid drive it after you chip it and you should be fine.

In the end it is your truck and your responsibility. Just because a tuner works for me or for many other 7.3 drivers, does not it would be suitable for you. Based on your post quoted above, I would say sleep on it a few nights and make a decision from there. If you don't feel comfortable with it, then don't install it. Adding a tuner does add a bit of uncertainty to the mechanical well being of the truck, but this can be mitigated by proper maintenance and monitoring.
I roll around like I have cotton ***** in the bed. However, it is a substantial feeling to know that if you kick in the chip at 140 gain and need to get around someone......you can safely.
I have never romped on my rig to just make a point or presence, but I have felt a lot of security knowing if I drop the mash, I'm going to make it easily.
It will blow your mind on just how agile your truck feels with the 75hp gain. (that's where I leave mine for common driving and towing. 8 years, no gauges, just using her, no mechanical or electrical issues at all. Sure, there are those that say what an idiot for not having EGT etc gauges installed with a chip. If your a grown up.... you know what's too much. Old guys didn't get old for a reason.
Put it in and see what your heart says. (Depends are optional)
