The only thing that comes to mind is the plugs. That year used the infamous 2-piece plug design that's notorious for coming apart during removal. The removal procedure of separated plugs can be time-consuming, and screwing it up can cost you an engine.
Otherwise they are pretty solid trucks. Balljoints and front-end components may need to be replaced with that kind of mileage, but a lot of that depends on how it was used. Do you know its history? Has it spent its life in Florida, or was it imported from up north?
The only history I've gotten so far was from the Carfax. Showed that it was only owned in Florida and had a service done in Texas. About 155,000 miles on it- with 30,000 of them added last year. Hopefully the plugs have already been replaced with the 1 piece ones. Thanks!
It is my understanding that the plug issue was resolved in Nov. '07. If it was built after that, there may not be a breaking issue. I had an '08 that was built in May '08 and there wasn't any problem with removing the plugs at 155K.
Thanks for the info guys. Unfortunately the dealer told me they had it this morning before I drove 1 1/2 hours there and it was sold when I got there. The hunt continues!
Found another truck but it's not a Ford.. owner is out of town for a few days. Going to check it out this Wednesday hopefully. 8.1L big block and an Allison trans

I've heard good things about those, but they're thirsty. A GM 8.1L was on my list of trucks when I bought my Excursion.
