Is this a factory AM/FM/8-track (ebay)?

I bought a radio off Ebay and it was advertised as a 72 Ford truck AM/FM/8-track. I don't know if they even made factory 8-tracks in 72, but I bought it anyway. I checked it out when it arrived and it has an Audiovox sticker on it. The guy said Ford radios were made by Audiovox. Is this true? Here's the ad number if you want to search it on Ebay: 2425862632

This is the only photo of the 72 am/fm stereo Radio that I found.
I couldn't find an 8-track photo

I was sure Philco Ford made their audio equip.

It's too bad he never posted a photo of the height & depth of the
carriage .

Be aware that some people will try to pass off a Car 8-track as One for a TRUCK.

They are very different.

Look for the radio **** shafts to see if they ar offset or straight cross from each other.

Yes, my dad worked for Philco-Ford back then.

It doesn't look right, will have to check the dealer accessory catalogs tonight.

My 70 Camper Special XLT originally came with an AM/ 8-TRACK, but I took it out and can't find it now. I searched for a replacement on E-Bay but couldn't find what I wanted so I bought a brand new "ad on" 8-Track player(fits under dash) that someone was selling. I think it was made by Audiovox, I now have two of them.
As soon as I get one of those headliners with the peakers in them, I will install it, and use it.
I have a bunch of 8-tracks, some are still new in the plastic.

highboy...i highly recomened(sp) not getting a plastic headliner. i had one in my truck and among the bad things about it was that it held in water thus my roof was rusting. i would just make new door panels out of fiberboard, cover them, and put a couple 6x9's in there. if your ever in so. idaho i'd be more than happy to trade my plastic liner for a good oe one.

I don't see it. Looks like the closest you could get was the AM/FM in the dash with a add-on 8-track.

Well Idaho is just a little too far from North Pole, Alaska, but thanks for the offer. I really don't want to mess with the door panels or kick panels if I can help it. I have thought if I ever remove the fuel tank behind the seat, that would be a good spot.
Although I had a 69 1/2 ton and I put a thin sheet(1/8th) of paneling in the roof, in place of the headliner, and put 2 speakers in the panel. They worked pretty good and didn't hurt the truck appearance.
I haven't heard alot before this about those plastic headliners, good or bad.

Very interesting! It’s just too coincidental to find two similar radios, isn’t it?

I looked in the ’70 dealer accessory catalogs too and found nothing. Wonder what the story is?

Yes, not from the factory but the dealers had some 8-track units.

Barry, I checked the 1970 accessories brochure and there isn't any mention of an 8-track either.

Cool , I don't know what to tell you.

If it is in fact Ford it should at least have a Ford Part number on it

Hey Keith
Back in high school I had an 8 track like the one from ebay installed by a stereo shop. So I would venture to say it is probably aftermarket. If you look at your stereos stems, it has adjustable mounts so it will fit a multitude of dashes.
We also had to shave the outer edges of the bezel.

Thanks Barry and everyone else. I guess this is an aftermarket radio. I think I'll try to find a stock AM/FM radio out of something to put back in the truck. I just need something besides AM.
