Hey guys ! I am new to this forum . I just bought a 79 F-100 2wd short bed . I have no running lights in the rear or side markers . The brake and turn signals work just fine . I have checked the fuse and it is ok . Any ideas ?
Welcome to the forum. When you pull the light switch in park mode, do you have front marker lights and running lights? Or is it just the back ones giving you issues?
If you don't own one, go to harbor freight or Walmart and g you a cheap voltmeter. It will become your best friend in hunting down electrical issues. Check to see if your getting voltage at the rear on your side markers and at the tail.

Check all the grounds for marker and taillights. Also check for corrosion in the sockets. As previously mentioned, pickup a multimeter to check for voltage at each location. If no voltage, start back tracking to the switch to solve the problem. Undo each ground wire and make sure there is clean metal to ground to. Put a little dielectric grease around terminal to prevent corrosion.
