ISO drivers side black door panel for a 1979 f150 Ranger Lariat. This is mine in the picture. It is cracked from the end of armrest all the way back. I purchased new armrest from LMC only to find out today that nothing is wrong with original. It's plastic panel. I did need new finger cups so when I installed new cups in my panel there's a gap all the way around new finger cup. The new armrest overlaps the vinyl lariat trim and will not allow it to lay flat therefore it won't allow the new cup and armrest to line up. Could my lariat trim be attached the door panels at LMC? I don't won't to buy and have to return. I am going to try and return the armrest.
I took the Lariat inserts off of one set of door panels, & installed them on my original ones. My originals were base model, with no inserts. That worked out great. The plastic pegs that hold the insert to the panel are very fragile, every one of mine broke off at the slightest touch. I used 3M double sided tape to attach the inserts to the door panels, that worked very well, & was easy to do.
So, I would say if you can find a nice uncracked door panel, it wouldn't be difficult to install your Lariat inset on it. I can't comment on the quality of the LMC panels. Personally, I would try to find a nice genuine Ford panel.

Thanks a lot. Good info. I wish there was some way I could repair the cracked one and keep it.
Are the lariat inserts attached to the door panel via plastic clips then?
I ask because a while back i saw a set of the woodgrain/stainless border pieces that are metal and have metal pins that are bent to hold them on.....at least i think so...ill look tonight. But i know some of them are just chrome plated plastic.......maybe early ones were metal?

Hmmmm
Mine are white plastic pins held in place by a metal retaining washer.
I don't understand what you are asking. My door panel has a gray vinyl section with walnut trim. I am assuming that is 1 piece. When I took the door panel off the truck, I seen 6 or 8 little white pegs sticking through the back side of panel. Each little peg had a metal washer holding them in place. In the catalog the LMC panel has plastic molded squares where mine has vinyl trim. I didn't know if mine would fit over the squares or not.

people have repaired them on here before with differnet glues or epoxies or metal bracing with various methods, as long as you don't see your repair it is all good, theres a search feature here at the top of the page
