Reproduction/aftermarket door panels for 71'
I had my door apart to change the window regulator, decided to order new door panels while I had it apart. Which then turned into a new dash pad, while I had that off decided to update my stereo system and a new radio. Since that interior is new decided to have my seat reupolstered, which the cost to do yourself doesnt make sense not to send it out, and a new rug installed. My $100 regulator turned into a $2000 project.
The issue I'm having is with the door panels. I ordered new ones assuming they were the right ones, it looks like they are for the style with the metal panel behind it, with the chrome trim that goes around it. Took a picture.
I Can find the metal panel and the trim but not sure I like that look and not sure how much more money I want to spend. If anyone knows where i can find the correct panel for my truck or if they make an aftermarket one similar to it. Otherwise I'm either going to have to buy the pieces I need or have someone make them new to match the ones that were there. Either option I'm not really looking forward to. I might like the look of it when it's done but is rather keep it the way It was and the way It was built.

1970/72 F100/350: Customs didn't come with door trim panels, Sport Custom came with different door trim panels than Ranger, Ranger came with different door trim panels than Ranger XLT
Where did you buy the door trim panels from, and what were their applications?
Generic pic for 1967/72, but this is actually 1967: 1967 door trim panels, armrests, inside door and window crank handles are 1967 only.

I bought them off eBay but same ones are sold by Macs and Npd. It just said fits a 71 f100.
No one seems to have the panels I need. I just assumed they would fit, I was wrong.
I'm probably going to buy metal door panels off eBay used and paint it the color I need and use the panels I just bought. If in the future I run across the correct panels I'll pick them up if these dont grow on me.
The chrome trim that surrounds the metal panels might be a little harder to find in decent condition, and I don't see anyone who sells a reproduction.

I just bought these..going to paint them white & use the door panels i just got. Dont want to waste anymore time looking. Im not sure what is used to attach these to the door, or which style clips. I think the clips i have from my old door panel should work to mount the new panels to these panels but not sure which clips or hardware are used to mount them to the door.

I have repaired mine with one of the fiberglass body repair kits. I used hot glue to hold popcicle sticks in place to build basically a dam to keep the resin in place until it dries, then peel off the sticks. Seems to be holding well, but I like the idea mentioned above of using metal. If I ever have to repair one again, I will use a strip of metal as well as the fiberglass repair.
I had one of the local automotive paint places to match some paint to my interior panel, they mixed it up and put in spray can for me. After fiberglass repairs, I painted my panels with the new paint and it looks like new. I gave them my fuse panel cover to use to match the paint in the store overnight.
