I have a power pack I want to use for the lights in my trailer and am looking for ideas to set this up. I need to be able to turn on both the parking lights and interior lights while the truck is parked.
I want to keep the power pack located in the bed of the pickup truck so it's accessible if the vehicle needs a boost and have it charge when the vehicle is being driven
I also want to add a switch for both sets of lights.
I would make sure all trailer lights are led. A trolling motor battery in a box with a built in 7-way would be easy. You could just plug your seven way into it.
I'm not entirely clear of your goal. The booster box will always stay in the truck, but you still want to be able to boost off it from that location? Just trying to clarify how you will use the booster.
Why not fix the problem or take the pickup/trailer to someone who can fix this problem? Instead of cobbling a solution that may or may not work. To me it sounds like a recipe for disaster.
It is not a bad idea to carry a power pack. To use it for trailer lighting, not so much.
RV Tech, I think he trying to put together a solution to the lighting problem he was previously having. If you are pulling something that does not have lights and needs lights, they make magnetic lights that attach to what ever you are towing and plug into a 4 way trailer plug. Wreckers use them frequently to make whatever that are towing somewhat road legal.

I know we are reading minds here, but he did say while he is parked.
I need to turn on the trailer's parking lights and dome lights while the truck is parked. I want to use the jump box as a battery but leave it in the bed of the pickup so it's easy to get to.
The trailer lights are the easy part. How about the dome light? Can't capture that at the seven pin. I would problem jury rig an additional light in the cab for that and tie it to the booster battery.
Oops by dome light I meant the light inside the trailer not the cab of the truck. Rigging everything up to a 7 pin trailer plug sounds like a good plan. I also like the idea of getting a set of wrecker lights that I can stick on the back of the trailer in an emergency. Thanks all. Steven, Ryan, Chuck tried to rep you but you know how it is.
