I just bought an '02 Eddie Bauer Explorer and am wondering what wheels would fit (with proper offsets). Not really looking to go gangsta with the 20's, just maybe some 17's or 18's. I have a 2000 Corvette and have photoshop'd the wheels from it on to the Explorer(pretty cool). Was thinking if a I'd find some alternatives on eBay. Mustang? (It's a 2002 4x4, V8 Eddie Bauer, still in Boston, to arrive here in Florida next week!!!)
Nope still don't know what will fit, am about ready to get after it though. Need to replace tires this spring and would like to do both (wheels & tires) then
I have been studying wheel sizes, What to look for is a bolt pattern of 5x114.3 mm
The 16 inch rims on a 2002 limited has a offset of 44mm
245 70 16 tires are approximently 29.7 in diameter. Look on tirerack.com for sizes and diamater.
I have read and seen pictures of an explorer with 18 inch mustang cobra rims with a +26 mm offset that looked good and was flush with the fenders.
bigwheels.net suggest 20 mm offset.
So I am looking for something like that with around a 2000 pound load rating. I dont want to use ricer car wheels.
Mkw suggests 10mm offset but with the irs rear end I feel that might stick out too wide and possibly bow out easier with a load.
I have been looking for 17 or 18 because I like the look of bigger offroad meat tires than the thin 20"
Still searching for 17 or 18!?
Let me know if you find out anything.
