got my engine back

It is not the Octane rating that is the problem. It is leaded vs Unleaded fuel. Low compression engines will run fine on either, but unleaded will cause increased wear on the softer valve seats. It's true, if you don't drive it much, you will never know.

got my engine back

This isn't going to be a daily driver. It will not be used for towing/hauling or see any other siginificant load on the engine. The 215 has relatively low compression. I have heard of people using a lead additive but I don't think that will be necessary given the intended use of my truck. I'm not going to throw a couple hundred dollars at a problem that isn't an issue given my intended use. If it were to be a daily driver or real work truck, I might consider it. But that is not the case.

Thanks for all the replies!
