I think my '96 has 5/16" transmission oil cooler lines and Ford went to 3/8" lines at some point. Is there any measurable practical advantage to upgrading to 3/8" tubing? I can bend tubing so the out of pocket cost is pretty minimal.
I don't think it's on the E4OD. Mine just has the two lines coming out of the side.
Yeah, on my '96 I don't have the connecting line, so I guess not a relief bypass valve either.
So Mark, should a high restriction develop in the cooling line, can you say what the signs / consequences would be? I'll be sure to keep that extra filter I mentioned fresh.

I'm not Mark, but assuming you have a trans fluid temp gauge, I'd say that your trans fluid temp should start to gradually and inexplicably rise over time and give you enough warning if your filter starts to cause a restriction.
Consequences of a high restriction in the cooling line in towing service would likely result in a burned up transmission.
