'Dirt Every Day' Digs Up '67 Ford PreRunner for Off-Road Race VS '89 Volkswagen Van

Fred Williams never seems to have a shortage of awesome off-road adventures, and today's episode of 'Dirt Every Day' is certainly no exception. But let's be honest, the real star of the show is that beat-up, old-but-willing 1967 Ford F-100 Prerunner.

They use them in the desert races like the Baja 1000. It can be any make or model.

"What makes a "Prerunner" an actual Prerunner is this...... The technicallity of it is it is basically a Race truck that was designed with "creature comforts" as AC, pwr windows/locks, Cruise control, Stereo. These trucks are built by the race teams to actually "pre-run" the race coarse when allowed. They want to be comfy while doing this but have the proper equipment to do it in."

They have been around a long time. And no; I don't watch off road truck racing.

The term has been so loosely applied nowadays, people call anything with big tires and fiberglass fenders a prerunner.

Now, that right there is fun Jowilker. The Baja is about 1000 miles, by road, end to end, and most of it still hasn't seen pavement. Hwy 1, named that cuz its mostly the only ONE... that is paved all the way from the border, to the Sea at the end. Lots of races, off road, for multiple classes of vehicles, and 'Run what you brung", too..

Watch out for the cows though, as in Baja, they fence the cows OUT of the fields of crops, and let 'em fend for themselves until its time to make a lot of burritos..

If you folks are near a newspaper stand today (April 13) pick up a copy of the Wall Street Journal. There is an article about a '67 Ford 6 cylinder F100 stepside that was used as a Good Humor truck back in the day.
Just like mine, except I didn't sell ice cream.

Dang amigo, you could have put a keg in that ice cream box, and a tapper on the side, and had a mobile beer cart. Talk about a million 'likes'...
