As I recall it the concern is has to do with torque converter unlocking
when brakes are applied and it's more than just the 6.0. I think it is
any 5R110W. Truth or fiction that is the question.
LEDs have been known to cause problems with flasher units do to the
lower current draw. My thought is if this is real and not a urban myth it
could be that the high mount brake light is somehow used in the control
of the torque converter circuit.
Sadly I really love digging into this type of thing,But I have so much going
on as it is. Should not be too hard to test it. Just an LED lamp and a place
where you can do a test track run while recording some PIDs.
"Mark Kovalsky" the user that posted above you is someone to listed
very close to when it comes to the transmission in this truck. The 5R110W
was one of his major projects as I understand it. Mark is the best when it comes
to info about this trans.
You have not answered the question about having a LED lamp in the high mount
break light. The info I have on them say it caused odd behavior or the lock/unlock
of the torque-converter.
Mark can you verify this ir is it just an urban myth?[/quote)
I've heard it, too. I have never verified it, nor provide it wrong.
I agree
If it had a Failure at the Pedal switch with Position with it On then it Shouldn't Lock
Ive Tapped the brake ever so slight and you can see Rpm Increase when this happens so the Circuit is Definably In play
I'm in the Dallas area. I understand, but something is wrong.... Again. When I need power, it's not there. I'm a driller not a master mechanic. I don't know what else to do other than take it to a trusted transmission guy. I'm returning from Austin today hoping I get some insight without dropping it.

You should take a video and post a link here of your problem. From what I've read there is no problem.
Like said previously, @ 60 mph keeping a steady speed, press the brake pedal ever so slightly with your left foot keeping the right foot on the accelerator to maintain speed. When you do this does the RPM jump up?
On a side note, I've been running LEDs in ALL my lights front, rear, and interior with NO ill effects at all. I'm calling coincidental myth on that one.
I too Believe the LED would not cause a problem because than anyone with a burnt out brake light would have problems as there would be Zero current draw.
I'd look at the EBP Sensor. If the tube or sensor is clogged then it will severely diminish power and cause the trans to shift oddly.
Located on drivers side cylinder head forward mounted to a bracket located on the Thermostat Housing.
Also look at the MAP port on the intake manifold, passenger side forward.
Look for a youtube video on how to clean it, this will also limit boost.
I just purchased the truck a month ago, carfax said its been under warranty and was taken To the dealer ship for oil changes ECT. Only thing major was a tune up at 80k, now it says nothing about any trans service done.
I drove it around last night, and it will still shift smooth, through all 5 gears. However, like last night, I was going about 45mph. I punched it and it will downshift to one gear, and hold a rev at 2.8 to 3k, highway same story, so it's consistent. it needs a filter change most likely, but I don't understand this....
Will the engine not rev out any higher than 3,000RPM?
