Dieselsite fuel filter/water separator question

OK, so I had a bit of time this evening and thought I would change the fuel filters. The upper and lower OEM ones went as planned. The Dieselsite ones.........not so much I must be stupid or something. I could not figure out a way to prevent a flood of diesel draining from the tank when I removed the bowls to change the filters. Damn, I hate a diesel shower. What am I missing???

Now that I've had a chance to clean up and think about it.........I believe the problem is the truck's tank is full. Next time I'll change the filters with less than 1/4 tank and I bet that will take care of the issue... I hope. Has anyone had this issue or am I the only dope?

Is your diesel site set up after the lower factory filter or before? Must be before, if it's in line after you would just remove the lower filter and change the other one at the same time.

I had to scratch my head on this one 4 years ago when I got mine. I do the three turns on the frame mount factory filter to break the seal, and open the drain. While that one is draining, I then open the drains on the DS filter bowls. Works every time. Of course you drain out more than if you didn't have those filters, but it does quit.

The Dieselsite mounts between the tank and the frame mount factory filter. I did have the factory one off when I did the Dieselsite.....just kept pouring out.

I disconnected the quick connect between the tank and the Dieselsite filter when I did mine.

The quick connect has a valve that shuts off the flow when disconnected?

No, but it was higher than my fuel level, so it didn't siphon.
