05 F150 acceleration issue
Hey guys, new to the Ford world and have a question. I have an 05 F150 Lariat Crew Cab 4X4. Engine runs good and under normal driving conditions it gets off the line and gets up to speed good. However, if I get on the after cruising at a consistent speed it seems like I have to really hit the gas pedal to get it to downshift more than one gear, along with that once is does down shift more than one gear the motor revs up like it should but my actual acceleration seems to be lacking a lot. No check engine lights on
Took it to my mechanic and had them plug in diagnostics and road test it. Mechanic said diagnostics were fine and he thought all the shift points were fine and the truck was running good. Changed the plugs (matched factory brand), flushed the injectors, changed fuel filter and dropped in a K&N air filter. Still runs good but the acceleration still seems very slow for the RPMs it gets to after down shifting.
Not sure if anyone on here has anything else I should have checked, or if I just need to get used to the slower acceleration of a crew cab truck. Again this is my first Ford truck so I don't know if this is normal for my model and I just need to get used to it, or if there are bigger issues I need to look into.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I have the same exact truck. A couple of things:
I had two COP units fail right at 105,000 on my truck, I replaced them all. This made a small increase in power and responsiveness.
Plugs were replaced at 100,000. No difference noted.
This is a ~6000lb truck. So says the certified CAT scale about 8 months ago.
The two biggest complaints that I have with this truck are the poor fuel economy (avg 14.24 over the 20,000+ miles that I have owned it, very little of that is "around town") and lack of power (0-60 is consistent 9.8-10 seconds).
Bottom line, it's a comfortable reliable and good-looking truck that is slower than molasses in January and drinks fuel like it's free...
Sorry, I don't think there is anything wrong with your truck.

Hey Guys, thanks for all the replies. Finally threw a code on Saturday, took it to O'reily's to have the code read and it was both cats. Took it to Kenny's Exhaust Works in Tucson. After talking to the tech this truck apparently has 2 cats per side so I had them take off the 4 old cats and condense to one high performance cat along with a magnaflow muffler. After they completed the work the tech said the 1st cat on each side was completely melted out and all that debris had pushed through to the second set of cats and almost completely clogged them. Anyway, long story longer, drives like a different truck. I know they are heavy and aren't made for quick acceleration but the difference is night and day and she actually pulls pretty hard when I put the foot down now. Sounds much better too.
