PREVIOUS OWNER RANTS!!!
I just recently bought a 69 F250 CS. It is a 1 family owned truck since new. Son bought from Dad in 1977 and I have the pink slip from 1977!
Now on to the rant...
This truck came with MANUAL steering and MANUAL drum brakes...It was originally Green..and they painted it at Earl Shieb (sp?) dark blue metallic..all but under the hood and the dash
....WHY CANT PEOPLE LEAVE PAINT ALONE!!!!?? or at least do it right. Then on to the brakes.. The guy put discs on the front...thats it. He told me that they took "something" out of the master cylinder to pump more fluid to the front...no hold off valve, no proportioning valve, just added the discs!!! Needles to say the stopping power is LESS than stellar. I just had to rebuild the rear brakesand EVERYTHING inside was wrong!
Then someone took the shifter out and heated it up and put a "Curly Q" into it!!??? WTF?
It also had a Six-Pac camper on it, they used about 3 tubes of clear silicone to sel the camper boot to the cab back window hole!!!
What a nightmare that was....I think I will donate it to the local boob-job Dr.!They added a full Mallory electronic ignition and had the engine rebuilt along with a true roller timing set....well he decided to go back to the points ignition when the module in the Mallory burned up in the first 50 miles....at the same time he had the timing set swapped out for a stock set, cause the mechanic told him that the true roller would not work with the points ignition

WTF!? But he did give me the true roller set
Im suppose to get the Mallory ignition too. When I bought the truck he told me the engine was rebuilt , but the starter went out. So his son put a new one on and all of a sudden the engine was locked up!!?? They hooked a chain to the truck and tried pulling it in 4th gear , but the rear wheels just skidded along the road. So I pulled the starter and found the nose cone was binding on the flywheel...He dropped the price of the truck 800 becasue of that...Needless to say he was less than thrilled to find out it was the starter!
I am actually almost over this truck and want to sell it as of right now...that may change, but I am frustrated.
Still sounds around 10000000 times better than what I started with. Mine had a trash body (PO cut all four fenders out and WOOD SCREWED flares on) so I had to get a new bed and fenders, broken motor mounts, trash paint (repainting now) trash wiring (rewired) trash steering (fixed) no interior (getting there), trash exhaust (fixed), damaged carb (fixed), rotten floors (fixed), needs tires still, EVERY single "repair" was absolutely wrong, unsafe, or not done at all. Anything a human hand had touched prior to me having it, ruined something. In the state I got it in, it wouldn't have made it another five years.
Not knowing what you paid and according to you "I am actually almost over this truck and want to sell it as of right now...that may change, but I am frustrated." you will sell this for a profit. So where is the complaint?
The buyer has to do his due diligence when buying a vehicle. When you discover problems and you still want the truck, that's when "Negotiations" begin. If you bought the truck without inspecting it, then your the fool. (generally speaking)
There's a lot of people who lack Money and know how so they rig it up as best they could. When it's time to sell, they put a price on it based on other like vehicles. No one forces or can make you buy something.
I see these trucks in the wrecking yard and after looking at what was done, I wonder "Why isn't this truck totaled?"
Bottom line, "Inspect before you buy" If you inspected it and still bought it, then it's up to you to get it right.
That's my opinion.
Other than that I won't complain. I think what saved my truck was that ol Frank bought the thing new, put a camper on it and parked it when he wasn't on vacation.
Dont get me wrong, the truck is not a POS, just frustrated with some of the issues that Im trying to get squared away.
I recently looked at a 67 it had been sitting for awhile. The owner says he starts it up once in awhile so nothing is frozen. He was asking $3000.00 for it. He wasn't firm, he said he had a little "Wiggle room" I asked him if he didn't mind me looking closely at it, he said no go ahead.
I went to my car pulled out my little floor jack, a pair of coveralls and a star lug nut tool. This guy freaked out. "Hold on your not tearing my truck apart unless you buy it!" I said if you want me to buy it, let me inspect it. At that point he said we don't have a deal.
I'll never know what all was wrong with it but it is still sitting in his driveway. I'm not going to invest my money just to solve my curiosity.
