why does my speedo not work?
I was wondering if anybody could tell me why all my gauges work, and light up but my speedo doesnt move and the digital odometer is blank? I thought maybe the vss was shot so i replaced it. Then i talked to a buddy of mine and he said when the sensor is bad the abs light comes on. I was wondering if a fuse was bad (of so which one), or if maybe the gauge was just shot? All suggestions are greatly appreciated.

As ar as I know the VSS is the only thing driving the speedo. I'd start by closely inspecting the VSS harness all the way up the frame to make sure the wiring isn't compromised.

I replaced the vss, and it still didnt work. Then i did the thing that everyone said i should have done first, and looked at the fuse box under the dash. Its always the eaisest thing that gives me the most troubles. Just out of curiosity, why is it both advanced and autozone couldnt get me the right vss, i had to go to the dealer to get it? Is it going to be that way for most of my replacement parts since my truck is the first year of the powerstroke? Also, when i checked my fuse panel, the only blown fuses were the ones for the interior lights and the cigarete lighter. I pulled the one that was supposed to go to the speedo, and wiped it of and put it back in. Then like magic it worked again. I guess it just wasnt plugged in all the way? You guys are a lot of help, and i really appreciate it.

Thats what I like to hear, I was messing with my domelight problem and may have poped a fues. I'll check them when I get home. If not I'm on to the VSS
